This Letchworth customer had recently moved into this property and wanted to upgrade the aged (70’s style) concrete front driveway. The actual physical size of the frontage and the number of cars that it could hold was not the issue, the issue was the aesthetics of the harsh looking expanse of concrete along with the adjacent land to the left side falling away and not being level ground. Following liaising with the customer we established that they wanted a random size block paving driveway product that would definitely last the test of time. They instructed that they wanted a substantial sub-base to withstand the weight of a heavy Motor home that would be in constant use on the new drive. The project needed to be practical, yet give the property the kerb appeal it deserves.
We arranged for a number of block samples to be shown to the customer (supplied by various manufacturers). They opted for a block called Alpha Antique (Autumn Gold) supplied by Brett’s. To give the new drive the additional sub-level strength required (on top of the correct membrane and Type1 road stone sub-base) we laid the new blocks on a lean-mix of sand and cement giving the customer total peace of mind.
To address the grass area falling away to the left-hand side we installed contemporary wooden sleeper walls to retain the newly landscaped levels. We then laid quality natural lawn to the area.
The customer expressed to us that they were delighted with the whole process in dealing with us as a company. They explained that from the initial enquiry to the finished article it was a pleasure having our men on site.
